Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and dependable Cook with strong Chinese/Asian cuisine experience to join our short-term rehabilitation/long-term care facility. Previous experience in professional kithcen is required. Responsibilities includes but not limited to: Prepare and cook meals in accordance with established menus, recipes, dietary requirements, and facility policies and procedures. Prepare Chinese/Asian cuisine as well as a variety of other foods in large quantities. Follow current Federal, State, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations related to food preparation and dietary services. Review menus prior to food preparation and ensure all required ingredients are available. Assist with determining appropriate food quality and quantities for meals served. Follow standardized methods and procedures for food preparation and kitchen operations. Ensure menus are properly maintained and filed in accordance with established facility policies. Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen and food preparation area. Follow proper food handling, sanitation, and infection-control procedures. Work cooperatively with dietary staff, nursing staff, residents, and other facility personnel. Assist with supervising and guiding dietary personnel as assigned. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Dietitian and/or Director of Food Services.
Qualifications:
One (1) year cooking experience in a hospital, skilled nursing facility, long-term care facility, or other related healthcare setting preffered. Strong cooking skills with experience preparing Chinese/Asian cuisine preferred. High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Must be able to prepare a variety of foods in large quantities. Knowledge of dietary practices and procedures. Ability to follow menus, recipes, dietary instructions, and food safety standards. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to deal tactfully and professionally with residents, family members, visitors, employees, government agencies/personnel, and the general public. Must demonstrate leadership ability and the willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise other dietary personnel. Must be dependable, organized, and able to work effectively in a professional kitchen environment.
