Job Description
Job Summary The Mahopac Inn is looking for an experienced line cook to join our team. If you thrive in a fast-paced kitchen, take pride in your craft, and love a good hometown vibe, we want to hear from you!
Must haves:
- 3+yrs commercial kitchen experience
- able to work weekends
- own transportation good in all weather
- must be able to read and speak English
- pay based on experience
- pay increase can happen quickly based on performance Responsibilities Prepare and cook menu items according to standardized recipes, ensuring consistency and quality in every dish Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including ovens, grills, fryers, and food processors Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, adhering to strict food safety and sanitation standards Assist with meal preparation, including slicing, chopping, and portioning ingredients using proper knife skills and slicing techniques Follow food handling procedures to ensure safety and prevent cross-contamination during all stages of food production Collaborate effectively with kitchen staff to coordinate meal assembly and timely service Support menu planning efforts by providing input on ingredient availability and preparation methods Skills Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, or restaurant settings with a strong understanding of kitchen operations Knowledge of safety standards in food production and food safety management practices Skilled in operating various kitchen equipment safely and efficiently Excellent communication skills to coordinate with team members and ensure smooth kitchen workflow Familiarity with dietary department procedures and dietary aide experience is a plus Ability to follow recipes accurately and adhere to meal presentation standards Strong knife skills, including slicing techniques for various ingredients Experience in catering or large-scale food service environments is advantageous Understanding of food industry best practices related to food handling, sanitation, and safety standards Embark on a culinary journey with us where your skills will be valued, your growth supported, and your passion for food celebrated!
