Job Description
Blue Point Brewing Company is seeking kitchen Prep Cooks and Line Cooks to join our team! These are part-time variable hour positions. We anticipate seasonal fluctuation, averaging 20-30 hours per week over the summer months. Applicants must be available to work evenings and weekends at our Patchogue Brewpub. The hourly rate will vary dependent on experience, starting at $17/hour.
Job Descriptions:
The Prep Cook assists in food preparation including preparing, chopping and portioning ingredients as directed by chefs and cooks. They maintain kitchen cleanliness and ensure all ingredients are ready for the cooking staff. This role is essential in helping to maintain a smooth and efficient kitchen operation. Other responsibilities include ensuring all food safety and sanitation standards are maintained, organizing and stocking kitchen supplies and ingredients, and monitoring inventory levels and reporting shortages. They may help with more complex tasks such as making sauces, baking, and frying and take on other duties as assigned. The Line Cook prepares and plates high-quality meals that meet the chef s exact specifications and works at specific stations in the kitchen, such as grill, saute , or frier. They are responsible for assembling ingredients, prepping food, and plating dishes with a limited amount of time. Line cooks monitor their station and stock it with necessary supplies. Other responsibilities include ensuring all food safety and sanitation standards are maintained, managing multiple orders simultaneously and coordinating with other kitchen staff on the timely delivery of each dish. Other duties as assigned.Qualifications:
Previous experience in a kitchen environment preferred, for the Prep Cook position 1+ year experience in a similar role, for the Line Cook position Certificate in culinary arts or related field preferred, for the Line Cook position Knowledge of food safety practices Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Team player with good communication skills Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment Aptitude for multi-taskingPhysical Requirements:
Ability to stand and walk for long periods Capability to lift and carry heavy items (up to 50 lbs) Must be able to bend, stretch and reach for extended periods of time Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights and weekendsJob Type:
