COOK The Orchards | Culinary Services Do you enjoy preparing great food and making a difference in the lives of others? The Orchards is looking for a dependable and team-oriented Cook to join our Culinary Services team. This position plays an important role in preparing meals and food items for our residents while helping maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen environment. What You'll Do Prepare appetizers, sandwiches, salads, fruits, baked goods, and other meal items. Assist with preparing potatoes, starches, gravies, meats, vegetables, and other menu items. Prepare meals according to recipes, menus, diet cards, and resident preferences. Prepare and portion food for meal service, including gravies, sauces, and garnishes. Prepare modified-texture meals, including pureed and mechanically soft foods. Check daily for diet changes and special dietary needs. Monitor food temperatures and report unusual readings to the supervisor. Stock, rotate, date, and properly store food and kitchen supplies. Deliver hot and cold food items to unit kitchens and assist with meal service. Prepare and deliver requested resident snacks and food items in coordination with Nursing. Assist with catering and special events. Receive and inventory incoming food stock. Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen by washing dishes, cookware, and equipment and cleaning kitchen floors. Safely operate kitchen equipment and small appliances. Follow all Culinary Services procedures, recipes, schedules, and instructions. Assist other Culinary Services team members as needed. Assume Cook and/or Chef duties when needed. What We're Looking For High school diploma or GED preferred. At least one month of related experience as a cook or cook's assistant in a personal care home, restaurant, institutional setting, or equivalent experience. Ability to follow recipes, diet cards, schedules, safety procedures, and written and verbal instructions. Ability to measure ingredients and interpret cooking times and temperature gauges. Knowledge of meal preparation for older adults and geriatric residents. Dependable, cooperative, and able to work well with others. Ability to follow established routines while adapting to occasional changes. Strong attention to cleanliness, food safety, organization, and resident dietary needs. Ability to complete required state-mandated training and regular in-services. Why Join The Orchards?
