Job Description

BACKGROUND CHECKS
Ohio Heartland Community Action Commission is a drug-free employer. Drug testing of both current staff and new hires will be conducted. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of Drivers Record Check, Criminal Background Check, Drug Test, and Employment References.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Uses and operates standard kitchen equipment and proper meal preparation techniques to cook breakfast, lunch and P.M. snacks for children in the Head Start centers and all other meals as required. Follows federal/state Food Sanitation Regulations at the Haxton Center kitchen site. 2. Supervise the Assistant Cooks. 3. Assists the Health/Nutrition Manager in ordering food, supplies and other items needed. 4. Maintains accurate temperature log for all appliances. 5. Responsible for checking-in weekly stock from various vendors and keeping accurate inventory records. 6. Completes monthly USDA Inventory reports and then submits to the Software System Administrator. 7. Stores food and supplies properly. 8. Submits monthly menus after all the temperatures and changes have been made to the Health/Nutrition Manager. 9. Maintains an orderly and clean kitchen at all times. 10. Follows all Health Department rules and state regulations. 11. Maintain the Safety and First Aid equipment according to the State of Ohio laws. 12. Adhere to all OHCAC Personnel Policies and Procedures and all other written agency policies. 13. Maintain confidentiality at all times. 14. May be required to work hours other than normally worked in order to adhere to and stay in compliance with regulations stated within the Head Start Performance Standards and Ohio Department of Job and Family Services Child Care licensing rules. 15. Due to program needs, least senior employee in a position must accept Re-Call from Seasonal Lay Off or unemployment will be terminated and discharge will follow. 16. After all cook duties are completed, mopping and sweeping the cafeteria, cleaning the childrens chairs in the cafeteria and cleaning and sanitizing the tables. 17. Assist in operation of the center in full compliance with the Ohio Heartland CAC Head Start Child Positive Behavior Support Policy that prohibits corporal punishment.
NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES
1.Attend training and workshops that will promote personal and professional growth and development. 2.Help with children in the classrooms, on field trips and any other occasions when needed. 3. Help with meals in classrooms, when required. 4. Perform any duty as assigned in order to meet or stay in compliance with state or federal regulations. 5. Actively promote the OHCAC programs and encourage recruitment year round.
ACCOUNTABILITY
1. The Head Cook is accountable for the above functions to the Health/Nutrition Specialist. 2.
