Alex Bell Rd. Centerville, Ohio 45459 Position Summary The Dietary Cook is responsible for preparing nutritious, appealing, and properly portioned meals for residents in accordance with established menus, dietary requirements, food safety regulations, and facility standards. The Dietary Cook works as part of the dietary team to ensure meals are prepared and served on time while maintaining a clean and sanitary kitchen. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Prepare meals and snacks according to the approved menu and standardized recipes. Follow residents' special diets, food allergies, and dietary restrictions accurately. Prepare food according to proper portion sizes and consistency requirements. Ensure meals are prepared and served at scheduled times. Maintain proper food temperatures and follow safe food-handling procedures. Follow all federal, state, and facility food safety and sanitation requirements. Properly label, date, store, and rotate food items. Monitor food supplies and notify the Dietary Manager of items that need to be ordered. Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen and food preparation areas. Clean and sanitize cooking equipment, utensils, work surfaces, and storage areas. Assist with receiving and storing food deliveries as needed. Minimize food waste while maintaining appropriate food quality and quantity. Work cooperatively with dietary staff, nursing staff, residents, and facility management. Demonstrate a courteous and respectful attitude toward residents and coworkers. Perform other duties as assigned by the Dietary Manager or Administrator. Qualifications Previous cooking experience preferred; healthcare, long-term care, or institutional food service experience is a plus. Knowledge of basic food preparation and sanitation practices. Ability to follow menus, recipes, and special dietary instructions. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Ability to stand for extended periods and safely lift and carry food supplies and kitchen equipment. Must be dependable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team. Position Type Full Time Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and lift as required. Ability to safely handle kitchen equipment and food supplies. Ability to work in a kitchen environment with varying temperatures. Work Environment The Dietary Cook works primarily in the facility kitchen and dining areas and interacts regularly with residents, staff, and visitors.
