Work a Steady Daytime Schedule. At Old Scratch Pizza, our Prep Cooks are responsible for producing the fresh, made-from-scratch ingredients that support our restaurants every day. From pizza dough and sauces to dressings and sausage, our production kitchen is where much of the work behind our food begins. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys cooking professionally but is looking for a more consistent schedule without the late nights of a traditional restaurant kitchen. You'll work with fresh, high-quality ingredients, follow established recipes and production standards, and be part of a team focused on quality, consistency, and food safety. Old Scratch Pizza continues to grow across the Dayton and Columbus regions, creating opportunities for team members who want to grow with us. Why This Role Stands Out Steady Daytime Schedule Primarily morning and daytime hours without the late-night schedule of a traditional restaurant kitchen. Competitive WEEKLY Pay $15-$18 per hour, paid every Friday. Scratch-Made Food Work with fresh ingredients and proprietary recipes to produce dough, sauces, dressings, sausage, and other products used throughout our restaurants. Closed on Major Holidays Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day. Success in this role requires strong attention to detail, organization, reliability, and the ability to work efficiently while maintaining high standards for food safety and sanitation. Key Responsibilities Prepare sauces, dressings, pizza dough, sausage, and other food products according to established recipes and specifications Measure, portion, mix, cook, and package ingredients accurately and consistently Follow daily production lists and complete assigned prep within established timelines Maintain product quality, portioning, labeling, dating, and storage standards Receive, put away, and organize food and supply deliveries Assist with inventory counts and communicate low-stock items to the appropriate team member Maintain clean, organized, and food-safe workstations and storage areas Clean and sanitize equipment, tools, work surfaces, and production areas before, during, and after production Follow all food safety, sanitation, and allergen procedures Properly use and care for production kitchen equipment Work efficiently and safely while completing repetitive production tasks Support teammates and contribute to a positive, productive kitchen environment What We're Looking For Previous prep cook, production kitchen, restaurant, or culinary experience is preferred. We are most successful with team members who demonstrate: Strong reliability and punctuality A consistent work ethic and attention to detail Ability to read and accurately follow recipes and detailed instructions Understanding of basic food preparation and food safety practices Ability to stay organized and manage multiple production tasks Willingness to learn and accept coaching Professional and respectful communication Ability to work independently and as part of a team Ability to maintain quality and consistency during repetitive production Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds Work Environment & Physical Requirements This position works in a commercial production kitchen environment and includes: Exposure to high temperatures and cold conditions in walk-in coolers and freezers Frequent contact with water and cleaning or sanitation solutions Frequent exposure to produce, dairy, gluten, nuts, citrus, and other common food allergens Extended standing and walking Bending, reaching, stooping, and lifting up to 50 pounds Repetitive wrist, hand, and finger motion Use of kitchen and production equipment requiring manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination Ability to safely maneuver in walk-in coolers, freezers, storage areas, and production spaces Ability to communicate clearly and maintain awareness of surroundings for safety If you enjoy working with food, take pride in consistency and organization, and want a professional kitchen role with a more predictable schedule, we encourage you to apply.
