Job Description
LECOM Medical Center and Behavioral Health Pavilion, an equal opportunity employer, is currently searching for a Cook Supervisor, 2nd Shift 11a-8p with rotating weekends. Position Summary Under the direction of the Dietary Manager, the Cook Supervisor is responsible for the preparation, seasoning, and cooking of food items for patients, staff, and guests. This position ensures compliance with all dietary guidelines, infection control, and food safety standards, and provides leadership and coordination for kitchen operations in the absence of the manager. Essential Responsibilities Review daily menu summaries to determine types and quantities of food items to be prepared. Plan and organize food production schedules to ensure timely and accurate meal service. Prepare and cook a variety of foods in accordance with standardized recipes and modified diet requirements. Supervise and assist staff in food preparation, tray assembly, and dishwashing operations. Ensure all work areas and equipment are maintained in a clean, safe, and sanitary condition. Inspect meal trays for proper portion sizes, temperature, and presentation prior to distribution. Provide direction and training to dietary personnel and assist with orientation of new employees. Maintain accurate records and assist in inventory control and ordering of food and supplies. Monitor compliance with infection control, ACHC, and safety policies. Oversee kitchen operations and personnel in the absence of the Dietary Manager. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum of two (2) years of experience in institutional or healthcare food service preferred. Previous supervisory or lead cook experience strongly preferred. Working knowledge of special diets, portion control, and safe food handling practices. Ability to supervise and coordinate staff in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
