Erie Yacht Club - Erie, PA Position Summary The Line Cook / Prep Cook is responsible for preparing ingredients, cooking menu items, and assisting with daily kitchen operations at Erie Yacht Club. This role ensures food is prepared consistently, efficiently, and according to the Club's quality and presentation standards. The position supports both à la carte dining and club events while maintaining a clean, safe, and organized kitchen environment. Cooks are expected to be able to work multiple stations including grill, pantry, and fry depending on service needs. Key Responsibilities Prepare ingredients by chopping, slicing, portioning, and measuring according to recipes and prep lists. Cook and plate menu items following Erie Yacht Club recipes and presentation standards. Set up and stock kitchen stations before service. Maintain a clean and organized workstation throughout shifts. Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health department guidelines. Assist with receiving, storing, and rotating food products. Support banquet and special event food preparation when required. Work collaboratively with chefs and kitchen staff to ensure efficient service. Properly label, date, and store food items. Assist with daily opening and closing kitchen duties. Station Responsibilities Line Cooks at Erie Yacht Club may be assigned to different kitchen stations depending on service needs and should be able to work multiple stations effectively. Grill Cook Prepare and cook grilled menu items such as steaks, burgers, chicken, and seafood. Monitor grill temperatures and cooking times to ensure proper doneness and quality. Plate grilled items according to Erie Yacht Club presentation standards. Maintain cleanliness of the grill station and ensure proper food handling procedures. Pantry Cook Prepare cold menu items including salads, sandwiches, wraps, and cold appetizers. Assemble dishes accurately and consistently according to recipes and plating guidelines. Maintain proper food storage, labeling, and rotation of cold ingredients. Keep pantry station stocked, organized, and clean throughout service. Fry Cook Prepare fried menu items such as appetizers, seafood, fries, and other fried specialties. Operate and monitor deep fryers to ensure proper cooking temperatures and food quality. Follow timing and portion standards for consistent results. Maintain fryer cleanliness and follow oil safety procedures. Qualifications Previous experience as a cook, prep cook, or kitchen assistant preferred. Basic knowledge of food preparation and cooking techniques. Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Strong teamwork and communication skills. Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 pounds. Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays. Preferred Qualifications Experience in a restaurant, private club, or hospitality kitchen. Food safety or ServSafe certification. Work Environment This position operates primarily in a commercial kitchen environment and requires standing for long periods, exposure to heat, and the ability to work efficiently during busy service periods.
