Opportunity:

Our client is seeking an experienced and dependable School Cafeteria Cook to join their food service team. The successful candidate will prepare and produce breakfast and lunch meals according to standardized recipes, maintain proper portion sizes and food quality, and follow food safety and sanitation requirements. The ideal candidate has a background in school, healthcare, or institutional food service, thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen, and takes pride in making a difference in students' daily experience.

Client's Summary of Responsibilities:

Prepare and produce breakfast and lunch meals according to standardized recipes and daily production schedules, adjusting production based on meal counts and service needs. Follow recipes accurately, including measurements, preparation methods, cooking times, and temperatures. Maintain consistent food quality, appearance, taste, and portion control. Assist with food preparation, cooking, serving, and replenishment during meal service. Safely operate commercial kitchen equipment, including ovens, steamers, mixers, slicers, and kettles. Follow all food safety, sanitation, HACCP, and personal hygiene standards. Properly store, label, date, and rotate food using FIFO procedures. Assist with receiving deliveries, checking quantities, quality, temperatures, and product condition, and keep the storage area organized. Perform basic math calculations related to recipes, quantities, portions, and production. Minimize food waste through proper preparation, portioning, storage, and inventory practices. Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, work surfaces, utensils, and food preparation areas. Perform other food-service duties as assigned.

Client's Required Skills & Experience:

Previous experience in school food service, healthcare food service, institutional food service, or high-volume food production

Understanding of food safety, sanitation, and personal hygiene standards, plus commercial kitchen equipment safety. Basic math skills, including measuring, counting, multiplying/dividing quantities, and adjusting recipes. Ability to follow written recipes and production instructions accurately. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen and as part of a team. Ability to stand for extended periods, bend, reach, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds, and safely work around heat, steam, and hot food. #IND1
