Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Prep Cook to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in meal preparation, ensuring that all food is prepared to the highest standards of quality and safety. This position requires a strong understanding of food handling practices and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced restaurant environment. The Prep Cook will assist in various kitchen tasks, supporting the dietary department and catering services as needed. Duties Prepare ingredients for meals, including washing, chopping, and measuring food items. Assist with meal preparation according to established recipes and dietary guidelines. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen workspace, adhering to food safety standards. Operate kitchen equipment safely and effectively, including knives and other food preparation tools. Help in the assembly of dishes for catering events or special functions as directed by the head chef or kitchen manager. Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure timely service and high-quality food presentation. Follow all health and safety regulations related to food handling and sanitation. Requirements Previous experience in a restaurant or food service environment is preferred but not required. Knowledge of food safety practices and proper food handling techniques is essential. Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail. Strong knife skills and familiarity with various cooking techniques are advantageous. Excellent teamwork skills with a willingness to assist others in the kitchen as needed. A passion for cooking and a desire to learn more about meal preparation within a dietary department or catering setting.
