Job Overview Senior Care of Marion is seeking an experienced and dedicated Nursing Home Cook/Kitchen Aide to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing nutritious, appealing meals tailored to the dietary needs of our senior residents. This role requires a passion for food service, strong culinary skills, and a commitment to food safety standards. The successful applicant will contribute to creating a warm, welcoming environment through quality meal preparation and excellent food handling practices. Duties Prepare and cook meals in accordance with dietary guidelines and resident preferences Plan menus that meet nutritional requirements and variety standards Ensure all food is prepared safely, following proper food handling and sanitation procedures Assist with food presentation to ensure appealing and appetizing meals Maintain cleanliness of kitchen and dining areas, adhering to health regulations Manage inventory, including ordering supplies and rotating stock Collaborate with dietary staff to accommodate special diets or restrictions Serve meals efficiently while maintaining high standards of hygiene and customer service Follow all safety protocols related to kitchen operations and food preparation Experience Prior experience in dietary departments or as a dietary aide preferred Strong background in food preparation, cooking, and food service within a healthcare, restaurant, or catering environment Knowledge of menu planning tailored for senior care or special dietary needs Proven skills in food safety, handling, and sanitation practices Experience with fine dining or restaurant settings is advantageous but not required Culinary experience including knife skills, meal preparation, and food industry knowledge is highly desirable Familiarity with catering services or large-scale meal production is a plus This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our residents through nutritious meal service delivered with professionalism and care.
