Trestle Studio launched The Hotel Chalet, a new boutique lifestyle hotel located in the heart of Downtown Chattanooga at The Chattanooga Choo Choo, and is building a motivated team who are enthusiastic about creating a unique space where culture, elevated service standards, and authentic hospitality are paramount. Job Overview Join our dynamic culinary team as a Line Cook, where your passion for food and dedication to excellence will shine! In this energetic role, you will be the backbone of our kitchen, preparing and presenting delicious dishes that delight our guests. We are looking for a Cook who takes pride in their craft, works with consistency and attention to detail, and contributes to a positive, efficient kitchen environment. This position is responsible for preparing and executing menu items to established standards while maintaining strong organization, food safety, and communication throughout service. Our cooks are expected to take ownership of their stations, understand what great execution looks like, communicate proactively, and work as part of the larger culinary team. Responsibilities:
Food Preparation, Execution & Quality Prepare ingredients and execute menu items according to established recipes, portion standards, and plating guidelines. Maintain consistent quality, seasoning, temperature, portioning, and presentation. Understand menu standards and recognize when food does not meet those standards. Maintain an organized, well-prepared station and complete prep lists accurately, communicating shortages or production concerns before they impact service. Follow all food safety, sanitation, labeling, storage, and proper food-handling procedures. Contribute ideas for specials, menu items, and opportunities to improve preparation, organization, and efficiency in collaboration with the Chef team. Service & Communication Work with the culinary team to maintain appropriate ticket times and a smooth, well-paced service. Communicate delays, shortages, equipment issues, or other challenges before they negatively affect service or the guest experience. Communicate clearly and professionally with both BOH and FOH team members. Support other stations and team members as needed during service. Assist with expediting and coordinating service when directed by the Chef/Sous Chef. Keep the Chef team informed of relevant service issues, prep needs, product concerns, and other operational challenges. Cleanliness & Organization Maintain a clean, sanitary, safe, and organized workstation and kitchen; complete assigned cleaning responsibilities, properly care for equipment and shared spaces, and promptly report maintenance or equipment issues. Requirements Previous professional kitchen experience; experience in a high-volume or quality-driven culinary environment is preferred. Strong knife skills and a solid foundation in fundamental cooking techniques. Working knowledge of food safety, sanitation, allergen awareness, and proper food-handling practices. Strong organization, attention to detail, and ability to work efficiently under pressure. Clear communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with both BOH and FOH team members. Dependable, adaptable, and motivated to continue developing culinary skills and knowledge. Working knowledge of Spanish a plus. Weekend availability.
