Primary Responsibilities of the Cook Prepare, plan, and cook meals according to established menus while incorporating creativity, proper portioning, and appealing presentation Deliver outstanding food quality, consistently monitoring cooking times, temperatures, taste, and texture to meet senior-friendly standards Maintain a well-organized kitchen, setting up and breaking down workstations, labeling and dating food items, practicing FIFO, and ensuring ingredients are properly stored Uphold strict sanitation and safety procedures, including appropriate handwashing, equipment usage, and maintaining impeccable cleanliness in all prep, cooking, and storage areas Support specialized dietary needs, preparing therapeutic or modified diets (low-sodium, diabetic-friendly, pureed, etc.) in line with resident care plans Collaborate closely with the Dining Services team to ensure seamless meal service, timely food delivery, and an exceptional resident dining experience Monitor and manage inventory, stocking supplies as needed and helping receive, rotate, and store food deliveries Communicate effectively with supervisors regarding menu adjustments, supply needs, equipment concerns, or recommendations for service improvements Contribute to a positive, team-centered culture, offering help during busy times and participating in ongoing training and development Engage warmly with residents, providing friendly interactions that elevate the overall dining experience Assist with special events and themed meals, adding creativity and excitement to resident life and community celebrations Requirements Education & Experience A caring heart and a genuine desire to serve others High School Diploma/GED required; culinary degree or formal training preferred Minimum of 2 years related culinary experience ServSafe Certification (if required by state) Strong culinary skills, including solid knife technique and familiarity with a wide range of cooking methods Experience with therapeutic/modified diets (preferred) Self-motivated, creative, and committed to excellence Flexibility to work various shifts, including holidays and weekends We are an Equal Opportunity Employer/Protected Veterans/Individuals with Disabilities.
