Full Job Description Our Daily Bread Cook Job Description Position Title:

Hourly non-exempt
Hours:
Monday - Friday 8am - 4pm; One to two weekends per month
General Description:
The Cook supports the mission, vision, and core values of the organization through proper food preparation and service.
Job Requirements:
Must have or be willing to obtain a Kitchen Manager Certificate Previous experience working in a commercial kitchen Previous supervisory responsibilities Strong organization skills required Ability to lift 50 lbs. repetitively Ability to verbally communicate and give directions Must be reliable Willing to take verbal & written direction and carry out those directions without direct supervision or assistance Must be able to stand for 4 hours or more at a time Ability to reach overhead (to remove or replace food containers from shelves)
Job Responsibilities:
Check freshness of food and ingredients Manage off-site meal service at the emergency shelter Prep, cook and deliver off site meals Supervise and coordinate activities of food preparation and delivery with volunteers Work with kitchen staff to plan menus Ensure uniform serving sizes and quality of meals Prepare and serve quality food accurately and attractively according to diet and menu Inspect supplies, equipment, and work areas for cleanliness and functionality Monitor sanitation practices Follows kitchen safety standards to ensure compliance with state local and regulatory agencies as it relates to food service Ensures proper sanitation and storage of kitchen equipment, food, and supplies. Ensure that food temperatures are maintained at proper levels at preparation and throughout service. Monitor service and clean-up of food production Maintain kitchen in accordance with Denton County and the State of Texas Health Codes Observe safety and security precautions appropriate to the work place
