Overview Join our vibrant childcare team as a Daycare Cook, where your culinary skills will create nourishing, delicious meals that support the growth and development of young children. This vital role combines food preparation expertise with a passion for healthy eating, ensuring every child receives balanced, appealing meals in a safe and hygienic environment. Your culinary talents will help foster a positive, nurturing atmosphere that promotes wellness and joy through food. Duties Prepare and cook nutritious meals and snacks tailored to the dietary needs of children in accordance with approved menus and dietary guidelines Plan weekly menus that incorporate variety, balance, and appealing flavors while adhering to nutritional standards and dietary restrictions Handle food preparation tasks such as chopping, mixing, poaching, braising, grilling, and food production for high-volume meal service Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including ovens, stoves, mixers, and sanitizing tools to ensure smooth kitchen operations Maintain strict food safety standards by following sanitizing procedures, proper food handling practices, and hygiene protocols at all times Assist with inventory management by monitoring stock levels, rotating supplies, and ordering ingredients as needed to support continuous meal service Ensure all meals are served on time in a clean, organized environment that complies with health regulations and safety standards Experience Previous experience working as a dietary aide or in a food service role within a childcare or educational setting is highly preferred Demonstrated expertise in menu planning, food preparation, and cooking techniques such as braising, grilling, poaching, and knife skills Familiarity with food safety management practices and sanitizing procedures essential for maintaining a hygienic kitchen environment Experience with high-volume production environments or catering services is advantageous Knowledge of dietary department operations or food industry standards related to child nutrition is a plus Ability to follow detailed recipes accurately while maintaining flexibility for special dietary needs or menu adjustments Strong understanding of food handling regulations and commitment to safe food practices at all times Join us in creating healthy meals that make a difference! $10.00 - $11.50 per hour
