We are a family-operated small business looking for a competent Cook to care for our clients professionally and compassionately. It's an often demanding job as you will be cooking for 8 to 10 residents. But, it can also be very satisfying and rewarding, since people who are ill, injured, disabled or elderly are thankful for high quality assistance. The ideal candidate will be patient and friendly with excellent communication skills. You should be able to follow instructions and perform a variety of tasks to ensure the quality of food is to our residents liking. Strategic Work 1. Ensure dietary compliance with residents prescribed diets and state regulations, 2. Ensure that menus are balanced and nutritious such as those recommended by the National Food and Nutrition Board and that those foods are varied. 3. Follow all infection control policies as related to food handling and kitchen cleanliness.
Tactical Work:
1. Plan and post weekly menus, one week in advance 2. Prepare weekly grocery lists, and submit on Mondays for review; grocery shop, and use EMR system for invetory. 3. Mark substitutions on menu or maintain a separate substitution record. 4. Maintain files on menus as served at least 30 days after the date of serving. 5. Label all foods, which are removed from their original container. Date all foods subject to spoilage. 6. Ensure that all refrigerators and freezers are kept at the correct temperatures (45 degrees or below for refrigerators and 0 degrees or below for freezers). Report any non-functioning appliance immediately. 7. Clean refrigerator and vent hood on a weekly basis and as needed. 8. Check all freezer and pantry items on a monthly basis, and ensure that all packages are closed properly and all expired items disposed. 9. Maintain cleanliness of stovetop and oven. 10. Assist other staff members as needed. 11. Complete all other duties assigned by the facility manager.
