Prep Cook / Evening Kitchen Support Job Description We are looking for a dependable and organized Prep Cook / Evening Kitchen Support team member to assist with food preparation and evening restaurant operations. This position is responsible for preparing and portioning food according to established recipes and guidelines, preparing salads and desserts, assisting the main cook during service, and helping ensure the kitchen and restaurant are properly cleaned, stocked, and prepared for the next shift. This is a hands-on position. Team members are expected to assist wherever needed, including food preparation, cleaning, dishwashing, bussing tables, and other kitchen or restaurant support duties. Responsibilities Prepare food items according to established recipes, portion sizes, and preparation guidelines. Portion ingredients and prepared foods accurately to maintain consistency and help control food cost. Prepare salads, desserts, garnishes, and other cold or ready-to-serve items as assigned. Complete required prep for dinner service, banquets, and upcoming shifts. Assist the main cook with food preparation and service as needed. Help maintain stocked and organized cook and prep stations during service. Follow proper food handling, labeling, dating, rotation, and storage procedures. Monitor prep levels and communicate when ingredients or supplies are running low. Maintain a clean and organized prep area throughout the shift. Complete regular cleaning and assigned deep-cleaning duties in the kitchen and food service areas. Clean and sanitize counters, prep tables, equipment, coolers, shelving, floors, walls, and other assigned areas. Wash dishes, cookware, utensils, kitchen tools, and equipment as needed. Assist with the dishwasher station when business or staffing needs require it. Bus and reset tables when needed to support restaurant service. Assist with running food, clearing dishes, or other restaurant support duties when needed. Remove trash and maintain clean and sanitary trash areas. Assist with all assigned closing duties. Ensure food is properly wrapped, labeled, dated, stored, and secured before leaving. Help ensure the kitchen, prep areas, dish area, and assigned restaurant areas are left clean, stocked, organized, and ready for the next day. Complete assigned prep, cleaning, deep-cleaning, and closing duties before leaving for the day. Follow food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standards at all times. Assist with banquet preparation and banquet-related kitchen duties when scheduled. Perform additional kitchen or restaurant duties as needed based on business levels and operational needs. What We're Looking For We are looking for someone who: Has previous kitchen, prep cook, restaurant, or food service experience. Is comfortable following recipes and specific portioning guidelines. Understands the importance of consistency and food presentation. Can work efficiently while maintaining cleanliness and organization. Is dependable and able to complete assigned prep, cleaning, and closing tasks without constant supervision. Is willing to assist the main cook and other team members as needed. Is comfortable completing regular cleaning and deep-cleaning assignments. Is willing to wash dishes and assist in the dish area when needed. Is willing to bus tables and help support restaurant service when needed. Can safely use knives and standard kitchen equipment. Understands basic food safety and sanitation practices. Can work in a fast-paced environment and adjust priorities based on business needs. Is comfortable standing for extended periods and performing physical kitchen duties. Is flexible when banquet or business needs require an earlier start time. Schedule The primary schedule for this position is: Monday through Thursday, approximately 4:00 PM to 11:00 PM. The schedule may vary based on business needs. Employees may occasionally be required to: Report earlier than 4:00 PM when banquets, events, or additional preparation are scheduled. Work additional days or hours based on occupancy, events, staffing, or operational needs. Remain until assigned prep, cleaning, deep-cleaning, dishwashing, and closing duties are completed.
