Responsibilities Prepare and cook authentic Jamaican dishes using traditional methods such as grilling, braising, poaching, and food production techniques. Follow recipes meticulously to ensure consistency in flavor, presentation, and quality across all menu items. Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including grills, ovens, knives, and food prep tools. Maintain high standards of food safety and sanitizing procedures to ensure a clean and safe kitchen environment. Assist with menu planning by suggesting new dishes or variations that highlight authentic Jamaican cuisine. Handle food with care during preparation and service, adhering to proper food handling guidelines. Support high-volume food production during busy service times while maintaining attention to detail and quality. Experience Previous dietary aide or culinary experience in a fast-paced kitchen environment is highly desirable. Proven experience in fine dining or restaurant settings with a focus on Caribbean or Jamaican cuisine preferred. Strong skills in food preparation techniques such as grilling, braising, seasoning, and recipe adherence. Familiarity with operating various kitchen equipment safely and efficiently. Experience in food safety management practices including sanitizing procedures and proper food handling protocols. Background in catering or high-volume food production environments is a plus. Demonstrated knife skills and ability to execute diverse cooking methods such as frying, sautéing, and steaming. $18.00 - $20.00 per hour Expected hours: No less than 7.0 per week
