Job Description

Overview We are seeking a dedicated and experienced cook/chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food preparation and a strong background in food safety and kitchen operations. This role involves preparing nutritious and appealing meals from a curated menu in a fast-paced environment, ensuring high standards of quality and hygiene are maintained. The position offers an opportunity to contribute to a supportive dining environment, providing excellent service to our residents and staff. 4-5 days per week based on employee preference. 40 hours per week available year-round with scheduling consistency. Duties Prepare and cook meals according to menu specifications, dietary guidelines, and preferences Assist with meal presentation Follow food safety protocols, including proper handling, storage, and sanitation procedures Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including knives and other culinary tools Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen area, including washing dishes, cleaning surfaces, and disposing of waste properly Collaborate with dietary aides and other kitchen staff to meet meal deadlines Ensure all food is prepared in accordance with health regulations and quality standards Assist in catering events or special meal services as needed Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and supplies, notifying management when stock needs replenishing Experience Previous experience in dietary department or food service settings is preferred Experience in food preparation, and cooking in fine dining or restaurant environments is highly desirable Knowledge of food handling procedures, food safety standards, and sanitation practices is essential Culinary experience including knife skills, meal preparation, and food industry knowledge will be considered an asset Experience working in catering or serving roles can enhance your effectiveness in this position Prior kitchen experience demonstrating the ability to work efficiently under pressure is highly valued This role requires a commitment to quality food service with an emphasis on safety, presentation, and customer satisfaction. We welcome applicants with a passion for culinary arts who are eager to contribute their skills to a dynamic team. We also welcome candidates with a passion and knowledge of cooking without formal training. This is a full-time position with full medical, dental, and vision benefits. We are also open to hiring someone as a part time or fill in cook.
Pay:
$21.00 - $24.00 per hour
