Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Cook to join our Preschool team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food, comfortable around children, and a strong time management and flexibility. This role involves following a rotating menu cycle, meal preparation, grocery shopping, and pick up, inventory and ordering, dishes, and clean up while ensuring high standards of food handling and safety. As a Cook, you will play a vital role in delivering delicious meals that meet the dietary needs of our preschool children. This position does include transporting children to and from the local elementary schools in a company vehicle along with shopping for and picking up food in a company vehicle. A current and valid driver's license is required. Responsibilities Execute meal preparation with attention to detail and timeliness Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen area, adhering to food safety regulations. Ability and willingness to follow set menus Handle food items safely and efficiently, ensuring proper storage and handling practices. Collaborate with the preschool director to accommodate allergies and/or dietary restrictions. Operate kitchen equipment safely, including knives and other food preparation tools. Qualifications Proven experience in a culinary role within the food service childcare setting preferred. Strong knowledge of menu planning, meal preparation, and food handling practices. Familiarity with various cooking methods. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, solo environment while maintaining quality standards. Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team. Current and valid driver's license. All candidates must be able to obtain a background clearance through MERIT and complete a 30 hour Child Care Basics training within 90 days of hire. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. in connection with both kitchen and inventory duties and the handling of children for the facilitation of programs, child safety, and potential emergency situations. Salary dependent on education and experience; medical and vacation benefits available. This is a 40 hour per week position, candidate must be available for a full time shift Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:00am - 4:30pm. Please respond with resume c/o Indeed.
