NEW SUBSTITUTE COOKS

SUBSTITUTE
JOB SUMMARY:
This on-call position performs general kitchen duties assigned by the Cook-Manager such as service in the cafeteria, vegetable preparation, clean-up duties, etc.
Education and Experience:
Food service work experience desirable; any combination of experience and training which provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and ability required to perform the work preferred.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Performs general cleaning and sanitation duties; operates dishwashing equipment; wipes down tables and service areas; stacks and stores kitchen equipment; cleans sink, drain board and food preparation areas. Assists in routine food preparation activities, such as cutting and washing fruits and vegetables. Serves food items to students and staff as assigned. Maintains neat and clean work environment; cleans and stores equipment and tools when job has been completed. Follows good safety and sanitation procedures.

Performs related duties as assigned.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
Reports to Cook-Manager, School Principal, and Director of School Nutrition.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to learn safety and sanitation rules and procedures. Ability to perform basic arithmetic. Ability to learn operating procedures for institutional-sized kitchen work. Ability to follow instructions and accept constructive criticism. Ability to consistently move up to 50 pounds using proper safety precautions. Ability to obtain, clarify and exchange information. Ability to organize and prioritize work. Ability to maintain neat appearance and good personal hygiene. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of people.
Licenses/Special Requirements:
Current ServSafe Certification, required. All selected applicants are required to take and pass state developed/mandated competency exam for the cook classification. Additional Job Information Substitutes must be available and willing to accept at least 50% of received calls/assignments. Should you be selected you would have to be available to take the cook test and be interviewed by principals.
