A Brief Overview The Lead Sanitizer is responsible for overseeing daily sanitation operations, ensuring the manufacturing environment meets all hygiene and safety standards. This role acts as a bridge between the sanitation team and management, providing direction, training, and quality control oversight. The Lead Sanitizer plays a critical role in maintaining a clean and safe facility, mentoring team members, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements. What you will do
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the sanitation team during shifts, providing guidance and support. Assign tasks and ensure proper execution of cleaning protocols and schedules. Train new and existing team members on proper sanitation procedures and safety practices. Foster a positive work environment by promoting teamwork, accountability, and a focus on quality.
  • Monitor and ensure the effective cleaning and sanitization of equipment, tools, and workspaces according to company and regulatory standards. Conduct inspections of sanitized areas to verify adherence to cleanliness and hygiene standards. Maintain accurate records of sanitation activities, including completed tasks and corrective actions.
  • Ensure the sanitation team follows all safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Identify and address potential safety hazards or non-compliance issues promptly. Stay updated on OSHA and FDA regulations, as well as company sanitation policies, to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Collaborate with the Sanitation Supervisor to identify and implement process improvements that enhance efficiency and effectiveness. Provide feedback to management on team performance, operational challenges, and potential solutions. Support cross-departmental initiatives that align with sanitation and operational goals.
  • Act as a backup for the Sanitation Supervisor during absences or as assigned.
  • Assist in inventory management of sanitation supplies, including ordering and tracking usage.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to discussions on sanitation performance and improvement strategies.
  • Some duties may vary slightly by location. Education Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (Required) Experience Qualifications
  • 1-3 years in a sanitation role within a manufacturing or food production environment. (Preferred)
  • 1-3 years prior experience in a leadership or team lead capacity (Preferred) Skills and Abilities
  • Understanding of sanitation processes, chemicals, and equipment. (High proficiency)
  • Ability to lead, mentor, and motivate team members effectively. (High proficiency)
  • Knowledge of OSHA, FDA, and other relevant regulations. (High proficiency)
  • Ability to inspect and identify sanitation deficiencies accurately. (High proficiency)
  • Verbal and written communication skills for team and management updates. (High proficiency)
  • Proficiency in addressing sanitation challenges and developing solutions. (Medium proficiency)
  • Ability to manage schedules, tasks, and documentation effectively.
