Position Summary The Automotive Detailer is responsible for completing the final cleaning and detailing of customer vehicles following collision repairs. This position plays an important role in the customer's final impression of our shop by ensuring every vehicle is clean, presentable, and ready for delivery. The Detailer works closely with technicians, estimators, and management to maintain an efficient flow of vehicles through the repair process while upholding ABRA's standards for quality and customer satisfaction. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Wash and thoroughly clean vehicles following collision repairs. Vacuum and clean vehicle interiors, including seats, carpets, floor mats, dashboards, consoles, windows, and door jambs. Clean exterior glass, wheels, tires, trim, and other exterior surfaces. Remove dust, compound residue, fingerprints, tape residue, overspray, and other materials resulting from the repair process. Buff, polish, or perform light paint correction when needed and when properly trained. Inspect vehicles during the detailing process for cleanliness and obvious cosmetic concerns. Notify management or the appropriate technician of any issues discovered before the vehicle is released to the customer. Ensure repaired areas and adjacent panels are clean and properly presented for final quality-control inspection. Move vehicles safely throughout the facility and parking areas. Assist with vehicle pickup, staging, and delivery as needed. Maintain an organized flow of vehicles awaiting detail and customer delivery. Keep the detail area, wash bay, equipment, and supplies clean and organized. Properly maintain detailing equipment, including vacuums, pressure washers, buffers, hoses, and cleaning tools. Monitor detailing supplies and notify management when additional products or materials are needed. Follow all company safety procedures and properly use required personal protective equipment. Protect customer vehicles and personal property while vehicles are in the shop. Assist other departments with vehicle movement and general shop needs when necessary. Quality Expectations The Detailer is the final set of eyes on the vehicle before delivery . Every completed vehicle should be inspected from a customer's perspective. Vehicles should leave the detail department: Clean inside and out Free of body-shop dust and repair residue Free of compound and polish residue With clean glass, wheels, tires, door jambs, and interior surfaces Properly staged and ready for customer delivery Free of obvious issues that should have been addressed before delivery Any concern should be reported before the vehicle reaches the customer . Qualifications Previous automotive detailing experience preferred but not required. Collision repair or dealership detailing experience is a plus. Strong attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced body shop environment. Dependable attendance and strong work ethic. Ability to follow instructions and work independently. Good communication and teamwork skills. Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. Ability to safely operate both automatic and manual-transmission vehicles is preferred. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to bend, kneel, squat, reach, and work inside and around vehicles. Ability to lift and carry approximately 50 pounds when necessary. Ability to work in wet, hot, cold, and changing shop conditions. Ability to safely operate detailing equipment and cleaning products. The Detailer is responsible for making sure the quality of the finished presentation matches the quality of the repair.
