Utility Worker Job Description This role focuses on maintaining clean, safe, and organized kitchen work areas, equipment, and utensils to support efficient food service operations in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities Clean and sanitize kitchen work areas, including counters, floors, and food preparation surfaces. Operate and monitor dishwashing equipment to wash, rinse, and sanitize dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen tools. Inspect dishes and utensils after washing to ensure they meet cleanliness and food safety standards. Handle and store cleaning supplies and equipment safely and in an organized manner. Follow established food safety and sanitation procedures at all times. Maintain kitchen equipment by cleaning and wiping down machines, carts, and other tools as needed. Assist with organizing and returning clean dishes and utensils to their proper storage locations. Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a professional and friendly attitude. Stand and move throughout the kitchen for extended periods, including full 8-hour shifts. Support the overall kitchen team by responding to cleaning needs and tasks as they arise. Essential Skills Experience with cleaning and dishwashing in a kitchen or food service environment. Knowledge of basic food safety and sanitation practices. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Ability to stand on feet for 8 hours per day and perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, and carrying items as needed. Professional and friendly demeanor when working with team members and other staff. Reliability and flexibility to work assigned shifts, including weekends and holidays. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience in the food services industry is preferred. Comfort using commercial dishwashing machines and cleaning equipment. Strong attention to detail in maintaining cleanliness and organization. Ability to follow instructions and established cleaning procedures consistently. Why Work Here? Work Environment This position is based in a busy kitchen environment that operates on structured shifts. Two morning shifts are available from 5:00 AM to 1:30 PM, and two afternoon/evening shifts are available from 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM. Team members must be open to working weekends and holidays as part of the regular schedule. The role requires standing on your feet for an entire 8-hour shift and working around commercial dishwashing machines, cleaning supplies, and kitchen equipment. The environment is fast-paced and active, with frequent movement, noise typical of a working kitchen, and close collaboration with other staff. A professional appearance and demeanor are expected while on duty. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Phoenix, AZ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $16.15 - $16.15/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
