Full Job Description Description:
Job Summary The Kitchen Steward/Dishwasher plays a key role in supporting kitchen and banquet operations at The Valley Hunt Club. This position is responsible for maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and organization in all back-of-house areas. The Steward ensures that kitchen staff have clean tools, equipment, and workspaces to deliver exceptional service to our members and guests. Essential Functions Sanitation & Cleaning Wash, sanitize, and properly store all dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment. Maintain cleanliness and organization of dish pit, prep areas, and storage spaces. Sweep and mop floors; remove trash and recycling as needed. Follow all health, safety, and sanitation standards in accordance with Club and regulatory guidelines. Equipment & Supplies Operate dishwashing machines and ensure they are properly cleaned and maintained. Restock kitchen stations with clean dishes, utensils, and equipment. Report any damaged equipment or supply shortages to the Chef or Sous Chef. Support to Culinary & Banquet Teams Assist with setup and breakdown of culinary equipment for events. Organize and store kitchen equipment, racks, and carts in designated areas. Support banquet staff with glassware and serviceware needs during high-volume events. Safety & Compliance Adhere to proper chemical handling and safety procedures. Ensure all sanitation logs, temperature checks, and cleaning schedules are completed accurately. Maintain safe working conditions by keeping walkways and work areas clean and hazard-free. Working Conditions While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for long period of time, use hands and fingers to handle and utilize objects, tools and controls. Occasionally, may be required to lift 10 to 50 lbs. Temperatures vary from freezer to oven. Physical Tasks Lifting/Carrying 50lbs or more, pushing over 50lbs, Handling (grasping, holding), Repetitive Motion - Hands, Repetitive Motion- Feet, reach over shoulder, reach overhead, reach outward, Climb, Crawl, Kneel, Squat, Sit, Walk-Slippery Surfaces, Stand, Bend.
Requirements:
Qualifications Previous steward or dishwashing experience preferred, but not required. Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods of time. Schedule Required to work a varied schedule including weekends, evenings and holidays.
