Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Dishwasher to support our dietary department in providing high-quality nutritional services to our residents. The ideal candidate will possess a strong work ethic, excellent time management skills, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and sanitary environment. This role is vital in ensuring the smooth operation of meal service, food handling, and kitchen sanitation, contributing directly to the well-being and satisfaction of our residents. All positions are compensated, including internships, reflecting our commitment to fair employment practices. Responsibilities Assist with food preparation and meal service, adhering to dietary requirements and nutrition guidelines for geriatric or special needs populations. Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including dishwashers, ovens, and food storage units. Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen areas, dining spaces, and food service utensils in compliance with health standards such as JCAHO regulations. Handle food products with proper food safety and handling procedures to prevent contamination or spoilage. Support the dietary team by organizing supplies, stocking ingredients, and managing inventory control measures. Perform heavy lifting tasks safely while following proper lifting practices to move supplies or equipment as needed. Follow workplace safety protocols consistently, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), to ensure a safe environment for staff and residents. Contribute to a positive dining experience by serving meals promptly and courteously to residents or patients. Requirements Previous experience in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or food industry settings is highly desirable. Knowledge of food production, meal preparation, and sanitation practices within a healthcare or geriatric environment. Familiarity with operating kitchen equipment safely and efficiently. Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced setting. Experience working with dietary requirements for special populations such as elderly or medically compromised individuals. Basic math skills for inventory management and portion control purposes. Ability to work well within a team environment while maintaining professionalism and respect for all colleagues. Certification in CPR is preferred; however, training can be provided if necessary.
