In this vital role, you will ensure the cleanliness and sanitation of all kitchenware, utensils, and food preparation areas while assisting with basic food prep tasks. Your enthusiasm and attention to detail will help maintain a safe, efficient, and welcoming kitchen atmosphere. This position offers an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in food service operations and culinary standards, supporting the overall success of our restaurant team. Duties Operate commercial dishwashing equipment to thoroughly clean dishes, cookware, utensils, and kitchen tools in accordance with food safety sanitizing procedures. Assist with food preparation tasks such as chopping, assembling ingredients, and portioning to support chefs and kitchen staff. Maintain cleanliness of all food prep areas, including countertops, sinks, floors, and storage spaces, following sanitation standards. Buss tables by clearing used dishes and utensils promptly to ensure a smooth flow of service. Handle manual lifting of heavy pots, boxes of supplies, and other kitchen items safely and efficiently. Follow all kitchen health and safety standards to prevent cross-contamination and ensure a safe working environment. Operate basic kitchen equipment such as stoves, blenders, or food processors under supervision when necessary. Experience Prior experience in food service or restaurant environments is preferred but not required; we value enthusiasm and willingness to learn. Knowledge of food safety management practices and sanitation procedures is a plus. Familiarity with dishwashing techniques, kitchen equipment operation, and basic knife skills will be advantageous. Experience with catering or banquet settings can be beneficial for handling large-scale food prep tasks. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely for extended periods is important for this role. Previous hospitality or culinary experience demonstrates a strong foundation in food handling and customer service standards is desirable but not mandatory.
