Job Description
Haven New England is seeking a Prep Cook / Dishwasher plays an important role in supporting the kitchen operations by assisting the Head Chef with meal preparation, maintaining kitchen cleanliness, and ensuring a sanitary dining environment for clients and staff. The ideal candidate will have prior food preparation experience, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of food safety and cleanliness. Healthcare, behavioral health, hospital, or residential treatment experience is a plus but not required.
Schedule:
Monday - Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm Essential Responsibilities Food Preparation Assist the Head Chef with daily meal preparation for clients and staff. Prepare ingredients including washing, peeling, chopping, slicing, and portioning food items. Assist with meal assembly, plating, and serving as directed. Help ensure meals are prepared according to dietary guidelines and menu plans. Receive, organize, and properly store food deliveries. Monitor food inventory and notify kitchen leadership of supply needs. Dishwashing & Sanitation Wash dishes, cookware, utensils, and kitchen equipment using proper sanitation procedures. Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen workstations, storage areas, refrigerators, and freezers. Dispose of trash and recycling in accordance with facility procedures. Sweep, mop, and sanitize kitchen and dining areas. Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and infection-control standards. Team Support Work collaboratively with the Head Chef and dietary staff to ensure timely meal service. Assist with special events, client activities, and holiday meals as needed. Support a positive and professional environment for clients and staff. QualificationsRequired Previous prep cook or food preparation experience. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of basic food safety and sanitation practices. Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Reliable attendance and punctuality. Preferred Experience working in a healthcare, hospital, behavioral health, residential treatment, or hospitality setting. Food Handler's Certification or ServSafe certification. Experience preparing meals for large groups.Pay:
