Dishwasher/Custodian

Overview Knead Community Cafe is a non-profit Christian based cafe with the mission to bring people from all walks of life together, serve them delicious meals and ultimately strengthen the community ties that bind us. We believe that food has the power to bring about many positive changes. We are looking for candidates who want to make a difference in their community. This is an hourly position approx. 26-30 hours/ wk. The candidate will report for service Tuesday-Friday approx. 9am-3pm as well as Saturdays breakfast service 7:30-1pm. Although primarily daytime, flexible hours are required to accommodate occasional special / fundraising events at the cafe with additional hours as needed. This position will report directly to the Cafe General Manager and Chef/ Kitchen Manager. Duties & Responsibilities Efficiently and safely washes all wares using the commercial dishwasher and hand washing as needed. Store/restock all dishes and other wares in proper areas. Sweep, vacuum, and mop floors as scheduled or needed. Cleans/ maintains work areas including kitchen, restrooms, cafe/ banquet hall/ storage areas. Restock supplies & assist with inventory as needed. Empty all daily trash receptacles, cardboard and kitchen oils and transport to dumpster area. Maintain outside seasonal patio, courtyard and sidewalks Set up/ breakdown of room needs based on special events. Cleans and maintains equipment and all environmental areas as designated by the Kitchen and General Manager.. Other job-related duties as assigned.

Skills/Qualifications:

Responsible, good time management skills, attention to detail and able to work independently. Highly motivated, possesses positive attitude and communication skills. Is a team player and will maintain a good working relationship with staff and cafe volunteers. Ability to bend, stoop, lift items weighing up to 50 lbs. with endurance to stand for extended periods of time. Ability to follow instructions, is a self starter, flexible and willing to help with various tasks, as needed. 18+ age requirement with high school diploma or GED. Must have reliable transportation to work and report on time. Pay rate commensurate with experience.
