GED Full Job Description Job Summary:
The Steward is responsible for the setup and breakdown of the dish machine and dishwashing area, ensuring the efficient and sanitary washing of all dishes, pots, pans, and service-related equipment. The Steward maintains cleanliness in the back of the house, assists in food storage, and supports other staff as needed. The position also involves assisting with special events and training new employees when necessary.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Dish Machine and Dishwashing Area Setup and Breakdown (35%) Properly set up and break down the dish machine and dish landing area. Perform the de-liming of the dish machine following proper procedures. Ensure all dishes, pots, pans, and small wares are cleaned and sanitized efficiently and in accordance with health regulations. Back of House Maintenance and Cleanliness (25%) Maintain the general cleanliness of the entire back of the house, including cleaning tables, shelves, walls, floors, cooler areas, and loading dock areas. Follow sanitary procedures for the disposal of food and waste, ensuring a clean and safe work environment. Support for Special Events and Food Deliveries (15%) Assist in the setup and breakdown of special events. Help with food storage upon receiving deliveries and ensure proper handling and organization of supplies. Assistance to Dining and Kitchen Staff (10%) Assist servers during lunch service by bussing tables and ensuring dishes are removed promptly. Remove trash throughout the day and ensure timely disposal of waste. Compliance and Training (10%) Follow all dietary and sanitary procedures in accordance with facility policies and state/federal laws. Follow infection control guidelines and maintain privacy rules and regulations as per HIPAA. Attend all meetings and complete in-services and mandatory training. Provide exceptional customer service and high-quality care by showing compassion and empathy towards residents and their families. Other Duties as Assigned (5%)
Qualifications:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience:
Previous experience in a food service or healthcare setting preferred but not required.
Skills:
Ability to follow safety, dietary, and sanitary procedures. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift, push, pull, and move equipment and supplies over 50 pounds. Must be able to stand, walk, stoop, and move intermittently throughout the workday. Work is performed in a healthcare setting with potential exposure to infectious diseases, bodily fluids, and chemicals. Must be able to work various shifts, including weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
