Stewarding colleagues support every meal and event by keeping our kitchens, service areas and equipment clean, organized and ready for use. Thompson Dallas is seeking a full-time Steward/Dishwasher to support stewarding operations across the hotel's kitchens and Food & Beverage outlets. Work assignments may vary based on business needs. Position Overview The Steward/Dishwasher cleans and sanitizes dishes, cookware, utensils, kitchen equipment and work areas. This role follows hotel procedures and applicable health codes, handles cleaning chemicals safely, and works with colleagues across the hotel's kitchens and outlets to support smooth daily operations. Key Responsibilities Cleaning and Sanitation Wash and sanitize dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, pans, utensils and kitchen equipment by hand or using commercial dishwashing equipment. Clean and maintain dishwashing machines, kitchen work areas, floors, drains, garbage cans and other assigned areas. Follow applicable health code requirements and hotel procedures for cleaning, sanitizing, storage and waste handling. Keep clean dishes and equipment organized and stored in designated areas to prevent contamination. Maintain a clean, safe and orderly work area throughout each shift. Kitchen and Team Support Support stewarding needs across the hotel's kitchens and Food & Beverage outlets, which may include restaurants, bars, in-room dining, banquets and events. Keep clean dishes, utensils and equipment available to support kitchen and outlet operations. Remove and sort trash and recycling, placing waste in designated areas. Restock supplies and assist with receiving or moving deliveries as assigned. Communicate equipment issues, low supplies, safety concerns and other operational needs to a supervisor. Work cooperatively with culinary and Food & Beverage colleagues, adapting to changing assignments and business levels. Safety and Standards Follow hotel policies, department procedures, safety guidelines and supervisor instructions. Handle cleaning chemicals according to label directions, safety data sheets and required protective equipment. Use dishwashing equipment, cleaning tools and other assigned equipment safely and report malfunctions. Follow safe lifting and carrying practices when moving dishes, supplies, waste or deliveries. Maintain awareness of workplace hazards, including hot surfaces, wet floors, sharp items and chemical exposure. Attend required meetings and training. Colleagues may be asked to perform other related duties as needed to support hotel operations. Qualifications Previous hospitality, restaurant, kitchen or cleaning experience preferred; training may be provided. Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions, safety rules and department procedures. Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors. Commitment to cleanliness, safe work practices and following food safety and sanitation standards. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends and holidays, based on business needs. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods in a busy kitchen environment. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly and occasionally more, with or without reasonable accommodation. Ability to push, pull, bend, reach, squat and perform repetitive tasks throughout a shift. Ability to work around heat, steam, noise, wet floors and cleaning chemicals while using required protective equipment. Ability to work a flexible schedule based on business needs.
