Dos Gatos Kolache Bakery is a locally owned and operated bakery located in the heart of San Marcos, Texas, specializing in authentic, hand-crafted Czech-style kolaches and other fresh baked goods. Position Summary The prep/dishwasher position is responsible for preparing ingredients used in making kolaches following established recipes and production standards as well as cleaning pans, utensils and work space to be ready for the following day. This position plays a key role in preparing fillings with consistency, accuracy, and attention to detail. the Prep position ensures all products meet our freshness, flavor, and presentation standards while maintaining a clean, efficient, and safe kitchen environment and is responsible for cleaning and securing the store as the last employee out. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Prepare products used in the assembly of the kolaches ensuring consistency and quality. Efficiently clean pans, utensils, equipment and work space as the closer of the store. Ensure all work areas, equipment, and utensils are cleaned and sanitized according to food safety and sanitation standards. Rotate ingredients and products to maintain freshness and reduce waste. Support a positive, team-oriented work environment and communicate effectively with management and front-of-house staff. Perform closing bakery procedures, including setup, cleanup, and restocking. Qualifications and Requirements High school diploma or equivalent required; formal baking or culinary training preferred. Minimum of 1 year of BOH experience in food prep. Ability to follow recipes precisely while maintaining product consistency. Excellent attention to detail and time management skills. Must be able to work evenings 1pm to 4pm. Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs. safely. Team-oriented attitude and commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient work environment. Work Environment This position operates in a commercial bakery setting with exposure to heat, ovens, and bakery ingredients such as flour, dairy, and nuts. The role requires adherence to strict hygiene, uniform, and food safety standards.
