Limited Term Recreation Worker Salary $15.00 Hourly Location 624 Bills Lane, Altamonte Springs, FL Job Type Limited Term Job Number 202600086 Department Leisure Services Division Recreation Opening Date 08/11/2026 FLSA Non-Exempt Description Benefits Questions Position Overview Assist and oversee recreation programs, facilities and grounds. Job responsibilities include the instruction and supervision of various recreation programs as well as the set up/break down and maintenance of recreation facilities. Position Functions Maintain a working knowledge of all recreation programs offered by the Recreation Division Supervise, monitor and assist program participants, teams, groups and volunteers Perform basic administrative tasks including filing, computer data entry, completing park forms, collecting minimal user fees, answering and/or placing phone calls, etc. Maintain program equipment and facilities as assigned Maintain a professional image to the public at all times Provide basic fundamental instruction of various recreation programs Assist, organize, implement and participate with assigned activities Set up/break down equipment and open/close facilities for programs as assigned Drive utility carts when needed in a safe manner Assist with various Special Needs programs and activities as assigned. May include direct supervision of youth and adults with special needs. • Assist with other Leisure Services programs/events as assigned. Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must be at least sixteen (16) years of age. Ability to work independently. Ability to accept supervision. Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and holidays between the hours of 6:30am and 11:00pm. Up to 12 hour shifts may be necessary.
PREFERABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in recreation and/or facility maintenance. Basic computer skills. Coaching youth athletics. Valid American Red Cross CPR/AED Certification (must obtain within three (3) months of employment). Valid American Red Cross First Aid Certification (must obtain within three (3) months of employment). Supplemental Information Applicants will be required to complete a Disclosure & Authorization Regarding Background Investigation, a Confidentiality Agreement and a VECHS national fingerprint-based records check. •Limited Term Recreation Workers working any Summer Camp programs will be required to be cleared through DCF in addition to the background requirements of all other applicants.
