Combined Student Worker Posting - O'Kane Theatre This posting includes four student employment opportunities within the O'Kane Theatre. Scene Shop Support Primary Duties Work closely with the O'Kane Theatre Scene Shop Foreman and Theatre Technical Director Work in the UHD Scene Shop to build theatrical set pieces for the O'Kane Theatre Maintain the Scene Shop and associated areas, ensuring they remain clean, safe, organized, and usable for productions, classes, and work activities Maintain O'Kane Theatre spaces and assist with general upkeep Assist with building scenic elements for current productions Perform other duties for the O'Kane Theatre as assigned Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Previous knowledge of carpentry tools is preferred Ability to lift up to 50 pounds Willingness to learn new processes and safety procedures Ability to work independently and collaboratively Facilities Management Support Primary Duties Work closely with the O'Kane Theatre Director of Theatre Maintain the O'Kane Theatre and associated areas, ensuring they remain clean, safe, organized, and usable for productions, classes, and work activities Assist with show preparation, including pulling props from storage, building scenic elements, hanging theatrical lighting, maintaining theatrical equipment, and hanging show posters Perform other duties for the O'Kane Theatre as assigned Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Previous knowledge of carpentry tools is preferred Ability to lift up to 50 pounds Ability to climb and work on a 10-foot ladder Willingness to learn new processes and safety procedures Ability to work independently and collaboratively

Costume Shop Support Primary Duties:

Work closely with the O'Kane Theatre Costume Shop Manager Organize, pull, alter, and build costume pieces for O'Kane Theatre productions Maintain the Costume Shop and associated areas, ensuring they remain clean, safe, organized, and usable for productions, classes, and work activities Maintain O'Kane Theatre spaces and assist with general upkeep Assist with creating costume elements for current productions. Perform other duties for the O'Kane Theatre as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Previous knowledge of sewing tools is preferred Ability to lift up to 25 pounds Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a creative team environment Willingness to learn new processes and safety procedures

Social Media and Marketing Assistant Primary Duties:

Develop and implement social media content for the O'Kane Theatre across Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and other appropriate platforms Create original digital marketing materials using Canva, Adobe Photoshop, and related graphic-design software Capture photographs and videos during rehearsals, performances, auditions, special events, and recruitment activities Edit photographs and videos into engaging promotional content, including short-form videos and production highlights Conduct interviews with directors, designers, actors, faculty, and production staff to create behind-the-scenes and promotional content Draft and schedule social media posts promoting productions, auditions, academic programs, student organizations, recruitment initiatives, and community partnerships Assist with electronic newsletters and other digital communications Monitor social media engagement and analytics and recommend strategies to expand audience reach Represent the O'Kane Theatre at recruitment events, campus activities, and conferences, including TxETA TheatreFest Collaborate with faculty, staff, student organizations, and guest artists to promote departmental events and initiatives Complete independent marketing projects while collaborating with the faculty supervisor Perform other marketing, communications, and outreach duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong written and verbal communication skills Creativity and an interest in digital storytelling and audience engagement Experience with, or willingness to learn, Canva, Adobe Photoshop, CapCut, WordPress, OnTheStage, and related platforms Photography, videography, and basic editing skills Familiarity with major social media platforms and current trends Ability to organize multiple projects, prioritize assignments, and meet deadlines Strong attention to detail Professionalism, reliability, and strong interpersonal skills Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a creative team An interest in theatre and the performing arts is preferred but not required
