Full Job Description Duties:
The Part-Time Recreation Attendant plays a vital role in providing a safe, welcoming, and engaging recreational environment for children and youth at City Recreation Centers. This position is responsible for supervising participants, facilitating recreational activities, and supporting daily operations of the community center. PT Recreation Attendants interact positively with youth, parents, and the public while promoting the mission, goals, and values of the Parks and Recreation Department. This position requires flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events as assigned. Supervise children and youth participants to ensure a safe, inclusive, and positive recreational experience. Engage participants in a variety of recreational activities, including but not limited to: Board and table games. Sports and physical activities. Indoor and outdoor recreation. Arts and crafts. Monitor participant behavior and mediate conflicts using appropriate behavior management techniques. Maintain accurate participant sign-in sheets for game rooms, programs, and activities. Assist with participant registration and attendance tracking. Supervise and assist with the Summer Food Program, ensuring compliance with Safe Food Handling practices. Clean and sanitize food preparation areas and equipment according to ServSafe standards. Plan and facilitate recreational activities according to schedules provided by the Recreation Manager. Develop recreational program plans and assist with program implementation. Maintain inventory of recreational supplies and equipment; report damaged or missing items. Submit recreational supply and food requests with appropriate justification. Assist with Parks and Recreation Department special events, including but not limited to: Easter Eggstravaganza, 4th Fest, Monster Mash, Tree Lighting. Assist with opening and closing procedures for the recreation center, ensuring facilities are properly secured. Maintain cleanliness and appearance of the community center, including activity rooms, restrooms, and office areas. Provide excellent customer service by greeting patrons, addressing concerns, distributing surveys, and responding promptly to feedback. Notify Recreation Specialist or Recreation Manager of facility issues, safety concerns, or incidents.
Required Work Days/Times/Hours:
Schedule M-F 3 p.m.- 7 p.m. during school year and M-F 11 a.m. -7 p.m during summer hours - Hours are limited to 1,000 a year.. Additional nights and weekends for special events may be required. Must have and maintain, without interruption, all necessary licenses, certifications, clearances, and/or job requirements. Works the assigned schedule and complies with the City's timekeeping and attendance policy. Perform all other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
N/A. PREFERRED
Prior experience working with children or youth in a recreational, educational, or community setting. Experience assisting with special events or group activities. Customer service or public-facing experience.
