Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

Assists the Community Services & Economic Development Director in planning, organizing, and coordinating all programs, functions and activities of the Community Services - Recreation & Tourism areas to fulfill recreation, tourism and aquatic facilities and program requirements of the community. Provides leadership on an organization-wide and community basis to ensure that public services are provided in alignment with the City's strategic objectives. This includes evaluating personnel and program performance, preparing and administering the Department budget. Municipal recreational programs include sporting, cultural, community events, classes and programs. (

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree in recreation, tourism or related field; three years experience in planning and coordinating recreational or tourism activities which included some lead or supervisory experience; or any equivalent combination of experience and additional training/education which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform this work.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Operation of city sedans, trucks and vans and possession of a valid driver's license. Must complete CPR course. Residency within sixty miles of the corporate limits of the City of Douglas, within the United States, required within a reasonable time after hire date.
