The Fitness Supervisor is responsible for assisting in leading and managing the daily operations of the group exercise program, including staff supervision, program development, class scheduling, equipment maintenance, and ensuring an exceptional experience for all members and guests. The Fitness Supervisor works closely with facility management to achieve departmental goals, maintain program quality, and foster a vibrant and inclusive wellness environment.Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Program Oversight Support the delivery of the "Arch Amenities Group Experience" in alignment with brand values, mission, and standards. Assist with the supervision of fitness staff, including personal trainers and group exercise instructors. Teach fitness classes or personal training sessions as needed. Maintain full staffing levels by recruiting, hiring, onboarding, training, and scheduling instructors. Sub or coordinate coverage for instructor absences with a goal of near 100% class coverage. Ensure all instructors maintain current certifications in CPR, First Aid, and relevant specialties. Conduct staff meetings and training workshops to ensure professional development and service consistency. Operations & Safety Track, evaluate, and report group class attendance; maintain accurate class substitution records. Perform weekly inspections of group fitness spaces and equipment; report maintenance issues and order necessary supplies. Ensure all areas are kept clean, organized, and in excellent working condition. Maintain inventory of supplies, equipment, and program materials. Create and manage preventive maintenance schedules for all group exercise equipment. Customer Service & Engagement Provide outstanding customer service, addressing member concerns and feedback within 24 hours. Foster community and member retention through strategic programming, events, and communication. Create and update a diverse and inclusive schedule of group fitness classes. Develop and execute retention and referral initiatives to increase participation and engagement. Contact non-active members to re-engage them with services or programs. Reporting & Marketing Assist with budgeting and cost control; ensure group fitness revenue targets are met. Develop monthly and annual management reports outlining key program metrics and updates. Write fitness articles, press releases, and promotional content to support class and event marketing. Manage group fitness bulletin boards and promotional displays within the facility. Design and distribute flyers, forms, and templates for marketing and program administration.Qualifications:
Education & Certification High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree in Fitness, Health, or Business Management preferred. Certification from a nationally recognized fitness agency (e.g., ACE, AFAA, ACSM, YogaFit, It's Yoga). Current CPR, First Aid, and other safety certifications (as required by client) required. Experience & Skills Minimum 1 year of supervisory experience in a health/fitness facility. Prior experience as a personal trainer or group fitness instructor. Ability to lead, motivate, and mentor a diverse team. Strong organizational, administrative, and time-management skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard business software. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Enthusiastic, professional, and service-oriented demeanor. Must be able to lift up to 45 lbs and physically demonstrate exercises Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, and remain physically active for extended periods. Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, and move equipment regularly. Ability to lift and carry items up to 50 lbs.
