Job Description

Overview The Opportunity The Rockwell is a premier, members-only indoor golf club that fuses the tradition of the game with the sophistication of a modern social lounge. We are building a facility that features state-of-the-art simulator bays, a massive professional-grade putting green, meeting spaces, and a world-class bar and lounge area. We are seeking a Director of Golf who will serve as the operational leader of the entire facility. This is a role for a golf professional who possesses the business acumen of a General Manager. You will be the face of The Rockwell, responsible for building the culture from the ground up, managing a high-performing F&B and Golf team, and ensuring that every member feels like a VIP. The Role This is a hybrid executive role. You will balance the business of golf (membership sales, P&L management, operational efficiency) with the spirit of golf (instruction, leagues, member engagement). You are not sitting behind a desk. You are on the floor—greeting members by name, overseeing the transition from morning practice sessions to evening social mixers, and ensuring the facility looks premier at all times.
Essential Responsibilities Core Responsibilities Executive Leadership & Financial Performance General Management:
Act as the primary operator of the business. You own the P&L, including membership dues, F&B revenue, instruction income, and corporate events.
Team Management:
Recruit, train, and lead the staff. You will directly oversee the Food & Beverage Director to ensure the service experience matches the golf experience.
Operational Excellence:
Oversee facility maintenance, technology uptime (simulators/AV), and cleanliness. The club must look "opening day fresh" every single day.
Membership Sales & Concierge Experience The Closer:
You are the primary driver of membership sales. You will conduct tours for prospective members, vet applications, and manage the onboarding process.
Retention Strategy:
Proactively monitor member usage. If a member hasn't visited in 30 days, you are the one calling them to invite them in for a drink or a quick lesson.
VIP Relations:
Manage relationships with corporate partners and high-net-worth individual members, ensuring their specific needs are met.
Golf Programming & Member Engagement League Commissioner:
Design and run year-round competitive leagues (e.g., "Tuesday Night FedEx Cup," "Winter Match Play") using simulator software. Success is defined by high participation and energy.
The Instructional Product:
Build a tech-forward teaching program. While you will manage a Lead Instructor, you will also maintain a limited book of "Executive Instruction" for VIP members to foster relationships.
Event Curation:
Work with the F&B Director to host major cultural moments: Masters Watch Parties, Ryder Cup mixers, and New Product Demo Nights.
Food & Beverage Synergy Service Integration:
Ensure that F&B service at the bay is seamless. A member should never have to hunt for a server while mid-round.
Menu Collaboration:
Collaborate with the F&B Director/Chef to ensure the menu fits the environment (e.g., high-end finger foods, curated cocktail lists).
The Ideal Candidate:
Who You Are The "Player-Coach": You are a PGA Professional who commands respect for your game, but you are equally comfortable reading a balance sheet or busing a table when the bar is busy. The "Host": You have the personality to manage different types of members—from the serious scratch golfer to the casual social member. You make people feel important.
Tech-Savvy:
You leverage technology. You understand how to use launch monitor data in lessons and how to use CRM data to drive sales.
Detail-Oriented:
You notice the small things. A crooked curtain, a smudge on a screen, or an empty glass—nothing escapes your eye.
Required Qualifications PGA Membership:
Class A Member in good standing (strongly preferred).
Management Experience:
5+ years in a leadership role at a private club, high-end resort, or luxury hospitality venue.
Simulator Experience:
Deep operational knowledge of indoor golf tech (TrackMan, Foresight FSX, GSPro, or similar).
Financial Acumen:
Proven experience managing a departmental budget or P&L.
Benefits Base Salary:
Competitive Executive Salary Performance Bonus:
Aggressive bonus structure based on Membership Sales and Net Operating Income (NOI) .
Instructional Income:
% of lesson revenue.
