This is a hands-on management role for someone who is comfortable taking ownership, making decisions, managing people, and ensuring that the studio runs smoothly without requiring constant direction. The ideal candidate is proactive, resourceful, warm, professional, and operationally strong. They should be someone who notices what needs to be done, handles what is within their authority, communicates clearly, and knows when an issue genuinely needs to be escalated. The Role The Studio Manager will serve as the primary point person for day-to-day studio operations and will work closely with ownership and studio leadership.
Responsibilities include:
Overseeing daily studio operations and ensuring a consistently polished, welcoming client experience Managing front-of-house operations, studio organization, cleanliness standards, supplies, and general facility needs Serving as a primary resource for instructors and staff regarding routine operational questions and concerns Coordinating instructor scheduling and helping resolve coverage needs when necessary Managing and supporting staff performance, accountability, communication, and adherence to studio policies Handling client questions, concerns, account issues, and service recovery with professionalism and sound judgment Monitoring class schedules, attendance, utilization, and other studio performance metrics Identifying operational issues and opportunities for improvement before they become larger problems Supporting membership growth, retention, and overall client experience Assisting with implementation of studio initiatives, promotions, events, and community partnerships Maintaining organized records and ensuring important operational information is properly documented and communicated Working collaboratively with ownership while independently managing responsibilities within the scope of the role Helping develop and maintain systems, processes, and standards as the studio continues to grow Requirements Prior experience in a management, operations, hospitality, fitness, wellness, retail, or similarly client-facing leadership role Demonstrated experience managing people, workflows, or day-to-day business operations Strong judgment and ability to independently problem-solve Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities in a fast-moving small-business environment Comfortable addressing performance issues, client concerns, and difficult conversations professionally Reliable, accountable, and able to follow through without extensive oversight Comfortable learning and using scheduling, booking, reporting, and other business software Availability to work on-site and maintain flexibility based on studio needs, including occasional evenings and weekends Genuine interest in creating an exceptional client and team experience Preferred Qualifications Previous management experience within boutique fitness, Pilates, yoga, wellness, hospitality, or another membership-based business Experience managing or supervising instructors, service professionals, or hourly employees Experience with fitness studio booking or membership-management software Familiarity with membership retention, sales, lead management, and client-service metrics Experience reviewing business reports, class performance, attendance, or other operational KPIs Experience helping a growing small business develop systems and improve operations Familiarity with local community partnerships, events, or relationship-building Interest in Pilates, fitness, wellness, or community-focused businesses Who Will Thrive in This Role This position is best suited for someone who enjoys being the person others can rely on. You understand that managing a boutique studio requires both people skills and operational discipline. One moment may involve supporting an instructor or resolving a client concern, while the next requires reviewing attendance, coordinating coverage, addressing a facility issue, or improving an internal process. Most importantly, you take genuine ownership of your role and care about helping build something.
