Aquatics Director

Develops, organizes, implements, and evaluates YMCA aquatic programs with a focus on quality, safety, youth development and healthy living for the Weekley Family Y. The Weekley Y offers a year-round outdoor pool and a seasonal family fun pool.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent. Two to four years related experience preferred; for example, as an aquatics coordinator or supervisor. Minimum age requirement of 21. Typical requirements within 30 days of hire include: completion of: Child Abuse Prevention for Supervisory Staff; Working with Program Volunteers; CPR; First Aid; AED; Bloodborne Pathogens. Completion of YMCA program-specific and trainer certifications: Lifeguard Certification including CPR-Pro, AED, Oxygen and First Aid, and Swim Instructor and LGI. Language Skills Ability to read, interpret, retain, and teach documents such as safety rules, operating maintenance instructions, and procedure/educational manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of children, parents, staff, members of the YMCA, and/or others, as well as in one-on-one situations. Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense, understanding, and sound mature judgment to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form, including assisting with curriculum learning. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to be sensitive and alert to the needs, feelings, and safety of others. Ability to ensure children's safety and maintain YMCA and state standards and guidelines at all times. Physical Demands Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions of position and to supervise program activities. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Possess adequate vision and hearing to safely monitor the pool area. Ability to perform all tasks demanded from employees inclusive of but not limited to sitting and standing for long periods of time, swim 500 meters without stopping, and move lane lines. Possess the swimming ability necessary to obtain certifications, teach, and rescue. Hours Flexible with scheduling and available to work operational hours of the YMCA, which may include day, evenings and weekends.
