JOB SUMMARY
Assists in managing developing, supervising, analyzing, and evaluating multiple recreation facilities, programs and staff.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Physical Education, Parks, Recreation, Recreation Administration or closely related field, plus six (6) years of progressively more responsibilities, three (3) years of which must have been in a supervisory or administrative capacity; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Education may not be substituted for the required supervisory or administrative experience. Successful completion of a background check. Possession of a valid Utah Driver's License at the time of hire.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Provides administrative leadership by evaluating current systems and services to effectively resolve problems, improve public service, and evaluate use of available resources. Manages and supervises recreation staff in county-wide recreation programs, services and facilities. Represents the Section at public and professional meetings; makes presentations to community and city councils and county officials. Reconciles program and patron complaints and responds to politically sensitive issues with general guidance from superiors. Develops and maintains positive working relationships with stakeholders and their organizations. Supervises assigned staff in the development and implementation of recreation programs. Participates in hiring, promoting, disciplining, training, and terminating assigned staff. Prepares and administers the annual budget for assigned areas, identifying all pertinent revenue goals and expenditures, including operations costs, fees, and capital maintenance/improvements. Provides recommendations for service fee adjustments based on cost recovery, market recovery, market capacity and differential pricing. Prepares and monitors revenue collections and expenditures in assigned areas. Negotiates and establishes contracts with various outside organizations and agencies in accordance with Division and County policy and procedures. Assesses and recommends changes to potential liabilities and enforce general safety provisions for the section's facilities, equipment, programs, and personnel practices.
