• About the

Role:

As a Recreation Leader for the Park Explorers Survival Club at the Chico Creek Nature Center, you will help kids build a lifelong bond with the outdoors by guiding them through Lower Bidwell Park. You will lead fun, hands-on hikes that mix nature education with basic survival skills, using games and challenges to help kids test their limits and gain confidence. More than anything, you will be a welcoming, positive mentor who shows young explorers just how empowering the natural world can be. This is a part-time, non-exempt, hourly position with varying shifts that may include working 0

• 40 hours per week as assigned, and less than 1,000 hours per fiscal year. Shifts are Tuesday from 4:15 pm
• 6:15 pm, Wednesday and Thursday 4:15 pm
• 6:45 pm.

Who We're Looking For :

We are looking for an inspiring outdoor educator with intermediate survival skills to join our team. If you enjoy mentoring youth, solving challenges on the fly, and bringing energy and positivity to active, outdoor environments, this position is a great fit. Candidates should be comfortable maintaining a moderate level of physical activity while creating safe, engaging experiences for children. Candidates must be comfortable being outside in nature for prolonged periods of time, rain or shine.

90 (on-site staff) Employees will receive 40 hours of sick leave per year, accrued at 2.8 hours per pay period. All unused hours are rolled over on January 1st up to a cap of 80 hours.
