Job Description

Job Summary Lord of Life Lutheran Church is seeking an organized, welcoming, and dependable Event Coordinator to oversee the day-to-day coordination of church events and hospitality. The Event Coordinator serves as the primary point of contact for hospitality-related activities and works closely with clergy, staff, ministry groups, and volunteers to ensure events are well planned, welcoming, and successfully executed. This role coordinates event logistics, food and beverage needs, volunteers, kitchen operations, supplies, and other details necessary to support a wide variety of church and community events. This is a part-time position averaging fewer than 24 hours per week , with hours varying based on the church event calendar. Some evening, weekend, and worship-time availability is required. Responsibilities Coordinate and execute church events, receptions, fellowship activities, educational programs, and other special events. Serve as the primary point of contact for hospitality and event-related needs. Recruit, organize, train, and support volunteers participating in hospitality and fellowship activities. Create a warm and welcoming environment for members, guests, volunteers, and community participants. Coordinate food and beverage needs, including ordering food and supplies for church events. Oversee food service logistics, including portion planning, serving practices, kitchen use, and food safety. Help expand use of the church kitchen for ministry opportunities such as classes, events, and other church-supported activities. Coordinate funeral and memorial receptions. Manage event-related expenses and food costs with a focus on responsible budgeting. Coordinate ticket sales, will-call, and seating arrangements for applicable events. Communicate event and ministry needs to appropriate staff and support church communications as needed. Provide guidance and training to volunteers and other users of kitchen and event equipment. Equip volunteers to take leadership roles in events and provide support as needed. Provide hospitality and event support to church committees and ministry groups. Assist with front desk and phone coverage when needed. Perform other duties in support of the church and its ministries as assigned. Qualifications The ideal candidate is a self-starter who enjoys working with people and can successfully manage multiple events, priorities, and volunteer teams.
Candidates should have:
Strong organizational and project-management skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Strong problem-solving skills and flexibility when plans or priorities change. Ability to coordinate both large and small events. Experience with large-group catering or food service. Knowledge of food-service safety guidelines and safe kitchen practices. Understanding of portion control and efficient serving techniques. Experience working with commercial or industrial kitchen equipment. Ability to manage event costs, supplies, and basic event budgeting. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise good judgment. Schedule This is a part-time position with an average schedule of fewer than 24 hours per week . Hours will vary throughout the year based on the church event calendar, with somewhat higher hours during busier seasons and fewer hours during the summer. The Event Coordinator or a trained delegate must be available for designated special events, which may occur during evenings, weekends, or worship times. $18.00 - $22.00 per hour Expected hours: No more than 24.0 per week
