Chief Development Officer About Us Children's Learning Centers of Fairfield County (CLC) is committed to providing early childhood education for all families, with direct services and programs focused on health, nutrition, and family support for children 6 weeks to 5 years of age. Since 1902, CLC has been a cornerstone of the community. CLC is Stamford's largest early childhood education program, serving over 800 families a year. We provide exceptional early learning experiences in a safe and loving environment that allows children to grow and learn. One third of every incoming kindergarten class in Stamford Public Schools is made up of CLC graduates. About the Role The Development Coordinator provides essential operational and administrative support to CLC's development team. The Coordinator is responsible for processing gifts and ensuring donors receive timely acknowledgment, supports the planning and execution of fundraising events, and helps keep the team's day-to-day work organized and on track. Gift processing and donor acknowledgments are the primary focus of the role. The Coordinator reports to the Chief Development Officer and receives day-to-day guidance on gift operations from the Manager, Institutional Giving and Development Operations. The Coordinator also works closely with the Director of Donor Engagement and the Marketing and Communications Manager. This role is well suited to someone who is highly organized, takes pride in accurate work, and is energized by being part of a mission-driven team.
Core responsibilities include:
Gift Processing and Database Support Accurately process donations and prepare timely tax receipts and acknowledgment letters, consistent with established procedures Update donor records as needed to maintain contacts and accounts Run existing lists and reports to support appeals, stewardship, and events Events and Volunteers Provide logistical support for fundraising and donor events, in partnership with the development team and event consultants Coordinate corporate and community volunteer opportunities Attend and support events; some evenings and weekends may be required Administrative Support Process expenses and payments for the development team Support team meetings and project tracking Provide development-related administrative support to the CEO as needed The ideal candidate will be: Detail-oriented, with a commitment to accurate and thorough work Highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities A reliable, positive, and collaborative team member Respectful, friendly, and responsive in communication with donors, volunteers, and colleagues Discreet in handling donor and financial information Committed to the belief that early childhood education is a foundation for lifelong learning, equity, and opportunity Required experience includes: 2-3 years of administrative or operations experience, ideally in a nonprofit, education, or mission-driven setting Working knowledge of a CRM or donor database; Salesforce experience preferred Some experience with event planning or logistics coordination Proficiency with
