Job Description

Event Service Worker Neal S. Blaisdell Center & Tom Moffatt Waikiki Shell — Honolulu, Hawaiʻi Be Part of the Action Behind Honolulu's Biggest Events Are you dependable, energetic, and ready to work in an exciting live-event environment? The City and County of Honolulu's Department of Enterprise Services is seeking a part-time Event Services Worker to join the team supporting events at the iconic Neal S. Blaisdell Center and Tom Moffatt Waikiki Shell . This is an exciting opportunity to work behind the scenes of concerts, sporting events, conventions, cultural celebrations, graduations, community gatherings, and other major live events in Honolulu. Event Services Workers play an important role in keeping our venues clean, safe, sanitary, and welcoming for performers, promoters, residents, and visitors. What You'll Do The Event Services Worker performs custodial and guest-service duties before, during, and at the conclusion of events. The position is responsible for maintaining assigned restrooms, public spaces, and event areas while minimizing interference with the public's viewing and enjoyment of the event.
Primary responsibilities include:
Inspecting and maintaining public areas so they remain clean, safe, and free of hazards and debris. Cleaning, servicing, and restocking public restrooms throughout events. Inspecting and stocking restrooms, dressing rooms, and locker rooms before events. Inspecting assigned areas after events and reporting damage, missing supplies, or maintenance concerns. Emptying public trash receptacles and monitoring concourses, entrances, walkways, seating areas, and other public spaces. Cleaning seating areas during intermissions and between performances. Responding quickly to spills, debris, restroom issues, and other conditions requiring immediate attention. Placing signs or barriers to warn guests about wet floors, blocked areas, or other potential hazards. Assisting patrons with questions, problems, and directions. Referring concerns beyond the employee's knowledge or authority to the Event Supervisor. Assisting Event Services Technicians, ushers, supervisors, and other event personnel as needed. Carrying and monitoring an assigned two-way radio throughout the shift. Remaining alert, visible, and available within the assigned work area. Assisting the event team with emergency and safety procedures as directed. Following all Department of Enterprise Services policies, safety procedures, Standards of Behavior, and venue rules. Performing other related duties assigned by the Production Manager, Event Supervisor, or venue management. What We're Looking For The ideal candidate is dependable, punctual, professional, and willing to take pride in keeping our venues clean and welcoming. Applicants should be comfortable working around large crowds and remaining calm and responsive in a busy, fast-paced event environment. Candidates should be able to work independently while also contributing to a coordinated event team. Strong communication, customer-service, teamwork, and problem-solving skills are important. Previous custodial, housekeeping, venue, hospitality, maintenance, or customer-service experience is preferred. Experience working at concerts, sporting events, conventions, festivals, theaters, or other public gatherings is helpful but not required. Employees must report to work on time, in the required uniform, and prepared with all necessary equipment. The Department of Enterprise Services provides a Blaisdell Center polo shirt, employee name badge, assigned radio, and required safety equipment. Employees provide clean, sturdy pants or jeans without holes and comfortable closed-toe shoes. Schedule Live events do not follow a traditional workweek. Applicants must be available to work a flexible, event-based schedule that may include days, evenings, late nights, weekends, and holidays .
