Full Job Description ABOUT:

Botanica, The Wichita Gardens is a botanical garden located in the Riverside neighborhood of Wichita, Kansas. Botanica opened in 1987 and welcomes hundreds of thousands of guests each year who visit for garden experiences, seasonal displays, festivals, concerts, private rentals, and signature events including the annual Tulip Festival and holiday light exhibition. Botanica is a dynamic, community-focused organization where creating safe, welcoming, and memorable guest experiences is a top priority. Employees interact regularly with guests, volunteers, vendors, and fellow team members while helping maintain a beautiful public space enjoyed by visitors of all ages. This is an hourly, part-time seasonal position averaging up to 30 hours per week. Starting pay is $15.30 per hour. Evening, weekend, and holiday availability is required. Seasonal employment opportunities may lead to consideration for future Public Safety, Facilities, Operations, or Event Services positions at Botanica.

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF WORK

This is a seasonal public-facing position responsible for supporting Botanica's festivals, events, rentals, and daily operations. Public Safety & Event Support Associates help create a safe, welcoming, and enjoyable environment by assisting guests, monitoring facilities and event spaces, identifying concerns, and communicating with leadership and contracted security personnel. This position emphasizes guest service, situational awareness, event support, and safety. Employees serve as visible team members throughout the gardens and play an important role in ensuring successful events and positive guest experiences.

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED

Assist with festivals, concerts, special events, and rentals. Monitor event spaces, parking areas, facilities, and garden grounds. Provide outstanding customer service and answer guest questions. Advise guests regarding Botanica policies, restricted areas, and event guidelines. Assist with event setup, teardown, and operational support. Identify and report safety concerns, facility issues, and guest concerns. Communicate with event leadership, staff, volunteers, and contracted security personnel. Assist with incident documentation when necessary. Support crowd flow and guest experience during large events. Perform other related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING

High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Customer service, hospitality, events, recreation, security support, or public safety experience preferred. Ability to communicate professionally and effectively. Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays. Ability to walk and stand for extended periods and work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
