Joel Catering & Special Events | New Orleans, LA Part-Time | Growth Opportunity to Full-Time | Weekends Required Joel Catering & Special Events is seeking a hands-on Venue & Operations Specialist to support our City Park Venues. This role is responsible for keeping both venues functional, organized, and event-ready. The position combines light maintenance, event setup (tables, Chairs, Linens), equipment oversight, and day-to-day venue support.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Conduct regular venue walkthroughs to ensure spaces are clean, functional, and guest-ready Complete light maintenance such as paint touch-ups, bulb replacement, minor repairs, and fixture adjustments Identify larger maintenance needs and coordinate outside vendors when necessary Maintain basic maintenance supplies and track recurring issues Set event spaces according to floorplans, including tables, chairs, linens, and other event infrastructure Complete early-morning weekend setups of chairs & linens and ensure venues are ready by scheduled deadlines Support day-of layout changes and operational needs Keep venue equipment, storage areas, and back-of-house spaces clean and organized Monitor supplies and smallwares and replenish as needed Inspect equipment and report repair or replacement needs
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
2+ years of experience in facilities, hospitality operations, event logistics, or a similar hands-on role preferred Early morning and weekend availability required Comfortable using basic tools and completing light repairs Able to read and accurately execute event floorplans Organized, dependable, and able to manage priorities across two venues Strong communication and follow-through Comfortable working independently and as part of an event team
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to safely lift, push, or move up to 50 lbs. Comfortable standing, walking, climbing ladders, and working for extended periods Able to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions This is a part-time position, growing to full time, with variable hours based on the event schedule.
