Summary:
The Philanthropy Specialist supports the philanthropic efforts of Northern Light Blue Hill Hospital and Northern Light Maine Coast Hospital by managing donor and prospect relationships, coordinating signature fundraising events, and cultivating meaningful community and corporate partnerships. Reporting to the Director of Philanthropy for Blue Hill and Maine Coast Hospitals, this role provides vital administrative, operational, and project management support to advance annual fundraising goals.
Responsibilities:
+ Manage a personal portfolio of donors and prospects, supporting cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities. + Develop effective strategies to meet KPI and fundraising goals. + Conduct donor visits, prepare customized cultivation strategies, and assist in developing proposals for priority hospital initiatives. + Maintain accurate donor records, moves management activity, and contact reports in the donor database. + Build and steward relationships with corporate partners, community groups, and emerging prospects to support fundraising priorities. + Coordinate partnership activities, recognition opportunities, and engagement events. + Represent philanthropy at local community meetings and partner events to enhance visibility for both hospitals. + Lead the planning, management, and execution of annual fundraising events. + Develop event timelines, budgets, sponsorship outreach, and logistics plans. Coordinate vendors, volunteers, promotional needs, and post-event stewardship. Track event performance and recommend improvements. + Recruit, coordinate, and steward event volunteers and committee members. + Serve as a liaison between volunteers, Foundation colleagues, and hospital leadership. + Ensure timely donor acknowledgment, stewardship, and communication of impact. + Work with Foundation and Marketing and Communications colleagues on donor communications, event materials, and digital outreach. + Support daily philanthropic operations including gift processing coordination, supply management, donor services, and project logistics. +
Other Duties Other Information:
+ Experience supporting donor cultivation and stewardship; exposure to major gift fundraising a plus. + Demonstrated experience supporting or coordinating fundraising events. + Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. + Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and collaborate with donors, volunteers, clinicians, and community partners. + Proficiency with donor management systems; Raiser's Edge preferred and experience with Canva, design platform. + Ability to travel regionally to support donor meetings, events, and community engagement. + Ability to work as a team member and maintain flexibility in working non-business hours and weekends to achieve donor satisfaction and program integrity. + Ability to prioritize work, multi-task in a time constrained environment, and meet deadlines. + Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. + Results driven with the ability to meet program fundraising goals and individual metrics. + Ability to successfully cultivate and steward relationships with external and internal Audiences. + Possess a current driver's license and must have reliable vehicle for travel throughout the State of Maine. + Flexibility working occasional weekends, evenings, or holidays.
