SunSipper Affordable Housing Project is launching the SunSipper Marketplace , a unique local marketplace featuring independent vendors offering homemade, homegrown, handcrafted, original products and services. We are looking for an energetic, outgoing and dependable Marketplace & Community Coordinator to help us build the Marketplace into a thriving destination for local vendors, customers and community activities. This is not a traditional hourly job. This is an independent-contractor opportunity for someone who enjoys taking initiative, meeting people, creating opportunities and being rewarded based on the results they help generate. What You'll Do The Marketplace & Community Coordinator will help oversee the day-to-day operation and growth of the SunSipper Marketplace, including: Recruit and develop relationships with quality local Marketplace vendors Help vendors understand Marketplace guidelines and get set up for their first weekend Coordinate vendor check-in and general Marketplace operations Work as the Marketplace cashier during operating hours Assist customers and provide a welcoming experience Maintain a clean, organized and inviting Marketplace before, during and after operating hours Keep common areas, checkout areas and customer spaces clean and presentable Decorate the Marketplace for seasonal holidays and special occasions and coordinate seasonal displays Coordinate Make & Take classes and workshops Help coordinate informational and educational classes Coordinate community fundraising events Help organize special events and activities that bring customers back to the Marketplace Promote upcoming classes, events and Marketplace activities Build relationships with local businesses, makers, creators and community organizations Identify new opportunities to increase Marketplace activity and profitability Help maintain a positive, organized and professional environment for vendors and customers Compensation This is a 100% commission-based independent contractor position. The Marketplace & Community Coordinator will receive: 10% of the net profit generated from: Consignment vendor sales Make & Take classes Revenue-generating informational classes Fundraising events Other approved revenue-producing Marketplace activities There is no hourly wage, salary or guaranteed weekly compensation. The more successful you are at helping create profitable Marketplace activity, the more you can earn. The Ideal Candidate We're looking for someone who is: Outgoing and comfortable meeting new people Energetic and enthusiastic Dependable and organized Comfortable speaking with vendors and customers A natural relationship builder Creative and willing to come up with new ideas Comfortable coordinating small events and activities Self-motivated and able to work independently Comfortable handling money and basic transactions Interested in supporting local makers, entrepreneurs and community businesses Willing to take ownership of the Marketplace experience rather than simply "showing up for a shift" You do not need to have previous event-management experience. We're more interested in your personality, initiative, organization and ability to connect with people. Important Independent Contractor Information This is an independent contractor (1099) position , not an employee position. The Coordinator is responsible for their own taxes and is not eligible for employee benefits, paid time off or hourly wages. The Coordinator will be compensated solely through the performance-based commission structure described above.
